John Crawford was holding a toy gun as he stood in the toy section of a Walmart. Before the police shot him to death in that same aisle, John managed to say, "It's not real." But it was too late for John.
One of the witnesses in the Trayvon Martin trial, Rachel Jeantel, was on the phone with Trayvon moments before the scuffle with George Zimmerman that ended his life. One of the last things she heard the unarmed Trayvon say to the man who was following him with a gun that fateful night: "Why are you following me for?"
Michael Brown died August 2014. Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson shot him at least six times, twice in the head. Michael was not armed. His friend and eyewitness reported that Michael said: "I don't have a gun. Stop shooting." Minutes later, he was on the ground, bleeding. Dr. Michael M. Baden, the man who did Michael's autopsy, told the New York Times, "In my capacity as the forensic examiner for the New York State Police, I would say, ‘You’re not supposed to shoot so many times.'"
Amadou Diallo died right outside his own apartment in the Bronx. He was unarmed. Four police officers shot 41 bullets, hitting Amadou 19 times. Later, they claimed that they had mistaken Amadou for a serial rapist. That same day, some of the last words he said to his mother as he spoke over the phone were, "Mom, I'm going to college."
There are so many examples of this and to be honest I'm angry at the injustice. Any injustice makes me angry as it should you. You can be spiritual and angry, as a matter of fact if you're spiritual and you see injustice it should make you angry because your spirit recognizes when another of it's kind is in distress.
I would like to respond here to a few criticisms I have received over the last few days for things I have posted and said on Facebook and my last blog. I'll do it anonymously BUT if they don't ease up I'm using names and everything next time.
From a Black CONservative: "Why do you even care you're not Black"
Me: Unlike your cartoonishly dumb-ass I know in my soul that we are family with Black people. I know that whatever scheme from White Supremacists, be they in the classroom, the boardroom or the Senate or Congressional floor, have worked out against Black people will and does work against us. From the Church to the party store, from advertisements and displays to anything in between. Think Brown and get serious....
From a White Liberal: "You're going against Indigenous American teachings! You come off racist and mean. You need to talk to an elder and go to a lodge"
Me: As if I would take the advice of how to do anything spiritual from a hippie! How do you know anything about our teachings? Do you think Running Canoe or Crazy Horse were some sit back and be quiet Indians? What made AIM so powerful before the "leaders" of that movement exposed themselves as unworthy, was they spoke truth to power and if I offend you read carefully............I don't care and could give a baboon's red ass what or how I come off to you. Your so open minded it sounds like your brains have fallen out. At least Republicans are honest when they attempt to be paternal to us, you do it and disguise it as "Plurality" or "Diversity"
I have lots more but those were pretty indicative of the comments that fools been leaving in my messenger.
When we, as Original People say Mitakuye Oyasin we mean it in ways that have to be explained in great detail to outsiders (White people) and it comes directly from our ancient spirits. We need to get our shit together and take the violence, the abuse and the disappearances seriously. We have to throw ourselves into our ancient and Original ways and do for self and kind. Do for self first so that you can do for kind in a good way. We are family and when our brothers, nephews and nieces are being targeted and murdered in the streets by our own hand and the hand of our open enemy we must take action so the 7th generation (whatever their hue is) can have a better reality than us. That does include in speaking out and supporting our family.
I might be finished but I sure ain't done!
