My poor heart

Earlier this summer there was this right wing, bigoted, racist old millionaire who got a letter from the government telling him to stop having his cattle graze FOR FREE on government land. Well, this upset a lot of racist phony punk ass vigilantes who call themselves "PATRIOTS" of which they are not. They are baby dicked frightened little boys who have guns. There was a standoff and Faux News and many other "liberal media" outlets trained their camera on these wannabe hero's and hoped, just as much as the baby dicks hoped, that there would be a bloody shootout. There was not one. It all ended peacefully much to the chagrin of many tea party "patriots" and other right wing-nuts.
Here in America though we, actually White people and White thinkalikes, look at crime like this:
Black Crime = GANG VIOLENCE
"Latino" Crime = ILLEGALS ACTING VIOLENTLY
NDN Crime = SAVAGES
Arab Crime = TERRORISM
White Crime = Not really a crime, he was just insane at the time.
It's true and we all know it.
When Trayvon Martin was murdered by a self hating "Latino" wife beater whose name I will not mention, I was just caught off guard and was incredibly sad. My friends has kids his age. Those kids are respectful to me and call me Uncle and have not thought of me as anything else. I thought about my nephews and it scared me for them. It made me sad to think that some jackass punk with a gun could kill one of my kids and get off Scott free.
It weighed heavy on my heart and in my soul to think this is the world we are in. Shit has NOT gotten better since I was first called a spic or tree nigger, or wetback or such garbage back in the 70's and early 80's. Oddly after I discovered the beauty of the weight room I didn't hear that language so much. The violence against me by Whites had come to a stop. It's still out there. I'm thinking of the families of those kids and the devastation it makes as the crime ripples thru the community.
I want to say that if you accuse me of playing the race card I agree as long as we agree that White Supremacy is a Royal Flush.
Mike Brown was a kid about a week away from going to college. Mike Brown also happened to be a young Black male in public. That's obviously a offense that is worthy of execution because it happens every 28 hours in this nation. A young person of color (Black, Brown AND Red) is shot by a policeman every 28 hours. I know that the mothers of these victims did not just have that child to be fodder to White Supremacy. Check out twitter under the hahstag #iftheygunnedmedown. It shows two pictures and asks which picture would they use if the person was killed by a devilpig cop or a vigilante or "Patriot". The lies, the outright lies about this young man astounded me. They said he was a thief and the officer stopped him because he "fit the description. That happened to me once when I was in New Mexico. The thing is the devilpig cop didn't know about a robbery and the owner of the store that was robbed said Mike Brown is not the thief. The guy they got on film is NOT Mike Brown. For all of my people that are apologists for the police you just need a history lesson and you'll see that the cops have never been for us. The cops patrol our neighborhoods, barrios, ghettos and reservation to make sure we don't leave our confines and upset the good White folks. ABC7 has a story of the Compton School Police being cleared to carry AR-15 rifles. This type of reading may be difficult for some of us and I do understand that .
You know that old saying "the truth hurts". When it comes to this type of thing, recognizing that our family here in America includes Black people and besides sharing a common open enemy we are just genetically closer to Blacks than we are to Whites. When we begin to awaken to the knowledge of who we are as well as WHOSE we are we pass thru various levels of accepting the truth. We pass thru unlearning everything that Whites has taught us.We pass thru and begin to recognize them as an invading force within our community. We begin to apply the proper terminology to what really happened in history. We begin to use our beautiful language in our everyday speak. We stop calling each other Warrior for example and call ourselves and others Ogichida. Becoming conscious is painful because indeed the truth hurts. It is maddening to realize we have been bamboozled on purpose for so long.
So back to Mike Brown. He was shot 6 times even though he did not have a weapon, eyewitnesses to the event said the cop approached him. After being shot he lay in the street for over four hours. WHY? The answer there is quite simple. It was a message. The message was, "Behave nigger or THIS COULD BE YOU".

5 eyewitnesses to the murder by that devilpig say that Mike Brown had his hands up and was standing still when the officer shot him because he was told by the man who our tax dollars pay to protect and serve. The jist of the eyewitness account is:
"Other eye witnesses, however, the cop ordered the friends to "get the fuck on the sidewalk," but the teenagers said they had almost reached their destination. That's when the officer slammed his door open so hard that it bounced off of Brown and closed again. The cop then reached out and grabbed Brown by the neck, then by the shirt. “I'm gonna shoot you” the cop said.

The cop shot him once, but Brown pulled away, and the pair were still able to run away together. The officer fired again. Johnson ducked behind a car, but the cop's second shot caused Brown to stop about 35 feet away from the cruiser, still within touching distance of Johnson. Multiple witnesses say this is when Brown raised his hands in the air to show he was unarmed. Johnson remembered that Brown also said, "I don't have a gun, stop shooting!" The officer then shot him dead.(Huffington Post)  White people have now set up a fund for Darren Wilson, the devilpig, because he is being "victimized". 2 days in and they have raised over $40,000. Whites know how to cover and protect themselves. That would be one useful thing that we could learn from them.

What about the crimes against us that we never hear about? Have you heard what happened to
year old Takira Wilson? How about Tina Fontaine of the Sagkeeng First Nation in Winnepeg? No? It's slow and methodical what our open enemy is doing to US. Eric Garners family is mourning. John Crawford's family is demanding answers. Renisha McBrides family awaits sentencing. They're demonstrating & marching in LA for Ezell Fords family. This is a WAR, not a fist fight.Have you heard about William Blackie? More than likely not. He's a Navajo who was beaten up and left for dead by three White boys.
Barbara Perry, a social science professor at the University of Ontario, has traveled the country in recent years to interview nearly 300 American Indians in the first large-scale study of hate crimes in border towns. She estimates that only around 10% of hate crimes against Native Americans are reported to law enforcement authorities, blaming the low reporting rate in large part on "historical and contemporary experience with the police, and the perception they do not take Native American victimization seriously."
Even the FBI's 2005 statistics on hate crimes that were reported to police show that while American Indians and Alaska Natives comprise only 1% of the U.S. population, they represent 2% of victims of racially motivated hate crimes. In 2004, a U.S. Department of Justice 10-year study entitled "American Indians and Crime" found a "disturbing picture of the victimization of American Indians and Alaska Natives."
According to the Department of Justice study, the overall violent crime rate among American Indians and Alaska Natives is 100 per 1,000 persons, meaning one out of 10 American Indians or Native Americans has been a victim of violence. That rate is twice as high as the rate for blacks, two and a half times higher than whites, and four and a half times higher than Asians.
The study also found that "American Indians are more likely than people of other races to experience violence at the hands of someone of a different race," with 70% of reported violent attacks perpetrated by non-Indians. (Huffington post)

Yet if I were able to send a message to our family in Missouri I would start by telling them to boot Al Sharpton the hell out. He's a fraud and a real life race baiter. Don't let Messy Jesse Jackson come back, he's cut from the same cloth as Al. I would tell them to GO HOME. You are being used and are participating in a social experiment that was made before many of us were even born. With all the cameras and media it is playing itself out like a movie for the entire world to see.Google "The King Alfred Plan". It's a military contingency plan to implement martial law within our community.
As much as it hurts, Tina, Mike, Trayvon and too many more are not coming back. Our best thing is prayer, calm and strategy. Stop asking for justice from a people who have no justice in them. This system was built on the destruction of the Brown and Black so fairness and equality will not be found within it.

Recognize the the police protect White people and serve White supremacy, expecting anything else would be folly. We all saw how they rolled into Wounded Knee in 1973 and how they rolled into Furgeson. They sprayed you all with tear gas, they shot rubber bullets at you, they used acoustic sound weapons and then initiated a No Fly Zone and THEN monitored your movement via drones and agent provocateurs. Keep an eye on those who yell the loudest hoping to hype you up into a frenzy and then suggest violence. That's an enemy and kick them out ASAP.
We need calm, strategy and prayer. We are all related and very much interconnected to one another. Let's pray for guidance, the spirit of understanding one another and love for self and kind.

A Sacred Contract

My most beloved brother and Kola in the flesh Tony Goulet is the author of a book titled God Help Me Tie My Shoes: The Sacred Contract of Fatherhood. (Available at Amazon.com or here: http://www.amazon.com/God-Help-Tie-Shoes-Fatherhood) which I just finished reading for the third time and it inspired me to write this blog. By the way, we are so hungry for Indigenous authors and here is one right in front of you so please support a brother and do yourself a favor and buy the book.
OK, enough of the commercial. Tony's book made me remember a scripture from the Bible that reads, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, and of the increase of his government of peace there shall be no end.” This is written by the Prophet Isiah who saw that a child would be born just like all of us but he would be different from all of us. SO different that there would be those who call him WOnderful, Counselor and a Mighty God. NOT Almighty, just Mighty. This guy would be the father of a nation, a nation of peace. I do love how poetic the Bible can be sometimes. Not often but sometimes. By now you know Prophet Isiah is talking about Jesus, and however you may feel about him you have to admit that he was perhaps the one of the all time most influential people to ever live. His words are potent and powerful, his followers for the most part suck eggs. ANYWHOO.... Jesus became a father of a "government" which in a deeper meaning he brings about a paradigm breaking thought process. As a adamant, damn near militant, non-Christian I look at what kind of son was Jesus. Considering who his father was, what was the way that he fulfilled his part of the contract. One thing that has stuck with me from long long ago was something that Minister Farrakhan said. I'm paraphrasing here but he said that the quality of your sonship will determine the quality of your fatherhood.
Powerful.
The two heads of the Christian and Muslim faiths both said that whatever was commanded of them by God they would do without question. They both had totally surrendered their wills over the care of God. Jesus said it this way,  “Whatsoever I hear, that shall I speak. Whatsoever the Father commandeth me, that shall I do.” Both ended up become the leaders of a new way to proceed in life. Like Sequoyah, Sitting Bull, Buddah,Wavoka and The White Buffalo Calf Woman, these people of God brought about new knowledge that was actually just inside of us all the time but we had forgotten it and that is why they came.
Before anyone assumes, hell NO I am not lumping Tony into this group, his book gave me inspiration. He's no more a part of the above mentioned than you are.
If we followed the examples of them we would become good fathers.
Jesus referred to God as "Father" and if is OUR father then whatever He did for Jesus and all the other prophets it just makes sense that he can do it for us. They were humans after-all, just like you and I. How do we follow in the steps of a Buddah or a Wavoka or a Crazy Horse or a Muhammad? Study and then follow by example. This takes discipline. If a behavior or a thought process no longer serves a purpose in our life other than the will of The Creator of all natural things then it has to be shitcanned. Observe people who have followed, in all of thier actions, seen and unseen, the examples of these 'Fathers' and what type of people are they?  They are people who thru hard work and determination and even practice raised themselves from a lower state to a state of eminece. From my own personal experience with alcoholism and drug addiction I had to practice being a warrior, being obiedent to a son (A sober peer), who is obiedent to a father (Elder) who is obident to The Creator.
Hope that makes sense.
To me if you're a father then as 'head of the household' yhou should be in an elevated state. Some of us did not have a father like that or maybe did not have a father at all. So when we stopped trying to find/replace a father with whatever self-destructive thing we were trying to kill ourselves with we straightened up and in our head we got a vision. Not that spooky NDN type vision but a clarity of thought. The Creator makes all things possible and with clarity whatever we see and whatever we want that is beneficial and positive by our faith we can bring it into existence. I wanted to be free from the obsession to drink and drug, I wanted to be able to come and go as I please and to know some form of contentment. I'm not always 100% content but I have all of those things in my life. By faith it became a reality.
There is a line in the Lords Prayer that reads, "Give us this day, our daily bread." and this makes me think about what are we, as fathers, producing for our children, and in our peoples way we innately know that ALL children are OUR children, what are we producing daily? Giving child support payments or doing some physical action at some point but are you producing everyday?
If you are in a position of poverty and there is want in the house (community) there comes the temptation to get it by any means necessary, illicit means included. Our fatherly position means we have and conjour the faith to keep our children safe from harm and temptation is a harm in this case.
Being a father is a sacred duty. I don't have any biological children but I have many many children that call me Uncle. Like a father my duty as Uncle is and that is most important to me. Faith, like willingness and courage can't be given away, it has to be generated on the inside. This is why sobriety of the mind is as important as sobriety of the physical. I can use the aforemnentioned men as examples for myself. FOr example, real elders and real medicine people NEVER tell you that they are so. They are humble, they are just, they are representatives of the Original People and they fully understand thier role in our community. I want to be that so that I can be a better servant (Uncle/Father) to my family.
We all make mistakes but what a wonderful example we are when we own up to them, when we humbly admit a wrongdoing or slight and actively seek to correct it. Maybe some of us have shitty relationships with our baby mama but what if we change our way of thinking of her and decide to see her as the mother of these most precious and wonderful gifts we call children? What kind of child will grow up seeing a mature, sober, God loving man? The kind I hope to be someday......

Who wants to hunt (culture) Vulture with me? Part ONE

What is a "culture vulture"? It is someone who decides to come into our community and acculturate themselves as they see fit. It is someone who comes in and attempts to change everything and the way we do things. The are cultural appropriation geniuses and they come mainly because we are an accepting people and they are outright social misfits.
I can see you. I go to gatherings and Pow Wow's and I can clearly see you. You come not to contribute, not to share divine gifts, not to give out positive ecumenical energy, not even really to participate. I see you coming and wanting to be a part of something so badly that you sacrifice who and what you really are for the sake of just being there. You come with your White liberal paternal bullshit and join in as if you really were and are one of us.
You claim some obscure Tribe that is perhaps Federally recognized even though you aren't. Maybe it was one of those infamous "courthouse fires" that swept across this nation and all evidence of your lineage went up in flames. Of course you can also claim Cherokee or Ojibway or maybe even Ojibway from Canada where the rules for the pedigree are drastically different than they are here in the United States. Maybe you discovered your roots after a relative died and "it was hidden for all these years because it was not acceptable to be an Indian back then" as if it is acceptable now.......
You scream about injustice within Indian Country and devise a plan based upon "the old ways" that will save our savage asses from ourselves AND the damn government. You decry racism in the media and in sports while all the while perpetuating it yourself. You come in regalia with your White skin and full blood mentality. Or at least what you think a full blood should act like. You maybe watched Dances With Wolves or Pow Wow Highway and decided that you were embarrassed at the actions of Whites (i.e. the government) or maybe you read Bury My Hear At Wounded Knee or In The Spirit Of Crazy Horse and came to the realization that the biggest threat to Indian people was, is and always will be White people and their mentality. Yet, you are special, you have maybe a drop of Indian blood AND you have a conscious that would never let you act the way of your true White ancestors.
So you dress like an Indian, not quite sure of your band or clan you just dress like an Indian copying some obscoure photo or maybe even the regalia of another. You come and participate and just try to maneuver yourself into position where you can get on the good side of some real honest to God holy shit they look the part Indians. Then once your in the good graces of a particular family you begin to ingraite yourself into the happenings. Next thing you know, you're on a Pow Wow committee! That's like jackpot!!
The real issues that effect Indian Country you could never be a part of and you need to thank the Christian God that you so readily rejected for that fact. No other minority group faces the issues we do. From Sovereignty to cancer, from AIDS to alcoholism, from inter generational trauma to the missing and murdered women within our community. You don't face discrimination from the police and the courts like us.
There is one thing I have noticed that you culture vultures stay away from. That 's treaty issues, you avoid them like the plague and the reason is because there is no room for the romanticized version that you hold of us within these issues. These are deadly serious issues that you would actually have to seriously study and research in order to understand them.
I see your Facebook pages packed wall to wall with romantic pictures of Indians and deeply moving and spiritual words attributed to certain Tribes and people. Thing is, the smallest effort in research would show that the majority of the crap you post is fake. Just makes sense, you're a fake and therefore so is the shit you post.
Then, you decide that to be of maximum help that you must become a Holy person. This is where you go into overdrive about "The Indian Way" and you pick apart every aspect of a social gathering, like a Pow Wow, and try to turn it into a seriously spiritual event. Based upon YOUR teachings. I grant you there are aspects of the Pow Wow that are spiritual. Of course they are. We are The Original People of planet earth, everything we do has a spiritual conotation that's just a given. No, what you do is piecemeal it and mold it to fit your agenda. Your agenda to be of service to the people as long as the people follow what you say. I mean you're White, by that virtue alone you know best.
You speak in clipped and monotone voice, you talk endlessly about "The Red Road" and the sacred medicine wheel and how it shows the four colors of mankind. (I'll let you in on a secret about that, it does NOT show the four colors of mankind. It was around for thousands and thousands of years before White people ever showed up on Earth, Before Whites crawled out of the caves of the Caucasus mountains and stood upright we had that wheel.) Each color represents a direction AND the attribute of the Creator it holds. You begin to spread messages of unity and looking at each other as brothers. This is a good and fine message that all should heed I am in total agreement with that. The problem here is if you are not even being true to who and what you are how am I supposed to gather any healing from a fraud?
If you can't even honor your White ancestors AND the Whites in your family that are not going along with your Indian game how can what you say be founded in truth? Your foundation is a lie. Hell, present yourself as an Indian and maybe you can sell cd's. Maybe you can sell some books, gain a following and start holding sweat lodges and ceremonies and workshops and teachings. Maybe you can even get on television and speak out on environmental issues on "our" behalf. I need to let you know something here, I am a real live Original Man. I am brown and beautiful. Dark hair and dark eyes and the whole bit. I am no more an environmentalist than Jesus was a Christian. It is my duty as an Original Man to be a caretaker to humanity and the Earth. I am designed by DNA to be a Uncle to our children, a brother to my sisters and brothers, and a nephew to my elders.
You're a cancer to our society. The young are picking up on this. They snicker at you, they look quizzically and question what you are doing amongst those who are not your own. I can't tell you how many young, some in their mid twenties, ask me who your type thinks they are. I answer, "They are a concer that needs to be rooted out and exposed". They are really excited about that type of talk which honestly does not bode well for you and your type.
No one in their right mind can take you seriously. Sitting around the drum and effecting a reservation accent. Talking about "The Great Spirit" in hushed tones and using the little bit of Original language that you know in casual conversation. You're false to yourself and us. A sickness.
One thing that you phonies stay away from is treaty issues. The reason you stay away from those issues is because they do not live up to the romantic vision you have of us. They are not sexy in a show off way. Of course treaty issues are deadly serious and in order to truly understand them you would have to study and research and speak with legal experts about sovereignty and all manner of truly important issues and how they effect the actual governance of our Nations, bands and tribes. This is an area that you know you can't come in and bullshit your way around. The sisters and brothers that deal with this do not have the time or energy to deal with frauds. Don't you or can't you understand that you idea of just saying a thing (I'm part Indian on my grandmothers side) does not make you one of us, but the sheer fact that you can come in like you own the place and then assume a position of authority within the community just shows how ugly White Supremacy is. By virtue of your education and being an outsider who lived on the inside you think that you can come and effect change. You think your ideas on everything, from how to protest to how to hold teachings are better than ours. Why? White Supremacy. No other reason need be given.
Speaking of issues makes me think of real issues. You can't ever understand and even truly empathaize with what we, the ones who actually look and are the part, go through. Everything from AIDS to alcoholism, from Inter-generational trauma to missing and murdered women, from rape to injustices within the court system all of these bypass you because and only because of your skin color. These issues affect those of us within Indian Country on a scale that is often three times the national average. You fit into the national average.
The constant threats to our liberty and civil and human rights all of that bypasses you because we live in the land of White Supremacy. Discrimination based upon how we look by the police and the courts are something that no matter how many ribbon shirts and buckskin you own will be on your radar.
When I was little a kid from Ishpaming moved to my hometown and told all of my tormentors that where he is from Indians are called "Timber niggers", guess what my new nick name was? Something that you would never be called. From spick to wetback and everything in between I can bet that your history and past do not have those things included.
There are rumblings within our community that the days of just letting you in and ignoring you are coming to an end. Indian country has always been small but with the advent of the internet and social networking it is just tiny. We can't afford you no more. If we are going to get serious and reclaim our destiny, our ways, our teachings, our dances and our future all manner of sickness, from disrespect of our women to child rearing are going to have to be cleansed and you fall into that category.
I call this part one because in the next part I will be naming names and crimes. Why? Because I am an Original Man and my Creator gives me strength and power to do his will in my life. I'm not a warrior by lip service, I am one because I believe I can be.

18 Rules for living by the Dalai Lama

I just found these so paradigm breaking I had to massively share.

The 18 rules of living by The Dalai Lama.

1) Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

2) When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.

3) Follow the three Rs:

i) Respect for self
ii) Respect for others
iii) Responsibility for all your actions.

4) Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

5) Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

6) Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

7) When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

8) Spend some time alone every day.

9) Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.

10) Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

11) Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.

12) A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

13) In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.

14) Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.

15) Be gentle with the earth.

16) Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.

17) Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

18) Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Wasn't that a hell of a game?

The early estimates for viewers of the super bowl are 111.3 MILLION people. The super bowl is big business and a big event. Hell the game didn't come on until 6:30 p.m. but the pre-game mess started at like noon. Big deal. Big event.
I'll be honest about something. I don't watch sports. I'm not interested in any of that stuff. I hold no allegiance to any team or club. The Super Bowl does not impress me. Last time I watched any part of it was when Prince did the half time show. I only did that because YES I am a long time old school before Purple Rain Prince fan but that's another blog that I will probably not write.
I want to break down somethings I found out about the Big Event. Tickets to the Big Event are about $1500.00 each. Parking at MetLife Stadium cost in the range of $150.00. Some of those spots were sold on ebay for $400.00 each. A 30 second spot cost $4 million dollars. THIRTY SECONDS! That breaks down to $133,000 per second. Big Event equals big money! The players of the game make BIG bank. They get a straight out grip of money. Think about this: There are 53 players on each team, no there are not 53 players on the field at one time, and each player gets paid as a bonus $19,000 each for the wildcard game, $21,000 each for the division playoffs, a $38,000 guarantee for the title game and for the winners of the Super Bowl they get $92,000 ( Losers get $46,000) each for a grand total of $170,000 for the entire deal. That averages out to $45,250 per game. Look at Peyton Manning who makes a staggering $15 MILLION a year plus all this extra. Rookies in the NFL average $405,000 a year or $23,800 per week. Big Money for a Big Event.
You can also add in what they will get in endorsements AND you get a Super Bowl ring valued at $5,000. Big Money for the Big Event. Did you also know that the NFL is registered as a NON PROFIT organization and has not paid taxes since 1966? Red Cross is a non-profit which makes sense, Salvation Army is a non profit which makes sense, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, Cancer research fund and a host of other human services organizations are non-profits but the NFL? That's a little senseless to me. But it is a big Deal.
Know what I think is a really big deal? Congressional Republicans cut $8 BILLION dollars in food stamp assistance and then gave a $83 BILLION dollar subsidiary to big banks. AND America turned the corner on a legitimate BIG DEAL. In this nation, one of the richest on Earth, we now have one million homeless school children. ONE MILLION children who go to school and when they leave school they walk into the woods and that's where they live or they live in abandoned buildings or in cars with their family or in the park or who knows where. That's a 38% increase from 2006-2007.
In 1987, the federal government enacted the Mckinney-Vento Act, which requires that every school district provide homeless students with equal access to public education. Districts need to count homeless students and have a homeless liaison to serve their needs.
A Homeless student is defined by law as those who stay in a hotel/motel, a shelter of some kind, or no shelter or are "doubled up" with friends or family. This "double up" accounts for 71% of Homeless Students.I ask if we took all the damned hype surrounding this game which is just a distraction from what sits right in front of us, and used a tenth of that energy to bring attention to what is happening to our children what could we change? When most think of homelessness they think of people wandering aimlessly or suffering under addiction and bad choices. When I think of the children I can't attach any of those excuses to them. I think of sex trafficing in order to survive, I think of what these children, I mean OUR children because as Original People we know from our teachings that each of has a responsibility to our collective community to help and raise OUR children. This goes so far beyond color and ethnicity. I mean what if you ttok you parking fee of $150.00 and your ticket of $1500.00 and skipped The Big Event and spent that $1650.00 on some food and clothing? Would you not better YOUR community? At least give the kid a chance where there is none? Think that these kids who have to sell themselves in order to survive and have a WANT to go to school for an education deserve a damn break. I'm not dogging those of us who watched the game and got our friends over in front of the big screen, ordered our pizza and hot wings and beer and cheered or moped depending on who won and lost. I am trying to point out what is for a real a big deal. I came home grabbed two grocery bags and filled them and will take them to the food bank tomorrow. It's my part, it is my community. I am an Original Man and I follow the precepts in our teachings to the best of my ability. I just don;t get distracted by "entertainment" that is purposefully designed to keep me oblivious to the world around me. I wonder how many of us even knew that we as a nation passed the 1 million mark on homeless students? How much better would the amount of money be spent on uplifting and supporting those in need than paying some dudes to smash into each other for our "enjoyment"?
One million homeless school kids and untold misery that follows to me is a Big Event for real.

A Open Letter to L. Brooks Patterson

To L. Brooks Patterson
County Executive Oakland County
Executive Office Building - 41 West
2100 Pontiac Lake Road

Dear Mr. Patterson,

On Monday January 27th I was a member of the Idle No More group that had gathered in front of the Oakland County Courthouse speaking out against what you were quoted in The New Yorker magazine. After some contemplation I think that maybe you spoke such hateful things about Indians to make a point about Detroit without fully understanding what it was exactly you were saying.

I myself have made the mistake of speaking without fully understanding my words. Especially in the heat of the moment! Myabe that is what happened with you in the article, maybe you were "ambushed" as you say. I was not there and can not in good faith tell you the motives of either the writer or yourself.

So here is what I propose Mr. Patterson. I suggest you meet with myself, an elder, and a young member of the Native American community to discusss the things you said. Let me further explain:

You said and I quote, “I made a prediction a long time ago, and it’s come to pass. I said, ‘What we’re going to do is turn Detroit into an Indian reservation, where we herd all the Indians into the city, build a fence around it, and then throw in the blankets and corn.

Firstly, the conditions on Native American reservations is like third world conditions. Some people may be under the impression that because we have casinos that we as Native people sit back and collect per cap checks with no abandon. This is not true at all. I can give the example of Shannon County on the Pine Ridge reservation. It is absolutely the poorest county in the entire United States. When I tell you they are poor they are not the , "Dang I can't afford the Playstation 4, or 'I can't afford that trip to Florida'" No I am talking about a per capita income of less than $3,000.00 a year, a unemployment rate that has consistently run into the 90th percentil for years. A life expectancy that;s one third shorter generation after generation than the average American people. There is a real degree of impoverishment that has created a tone of death on many reservations. The death of malnutrition and diabetes, high blood pressure, alcoholism, cancer, obesity and a score of other diseases that run the gambit within Indian Country.

I can't think of anyone who becomes aware of those type of conditions in this nation that would not want to step in and help change those conditions.  Maybe you're not aware of the conditions of reservations in this nation and so you wished for Detroit such a terrible fate as just not understanding fully what you were talking about. I would love for the opportunity to discuss that further with you.

So then we move onto the blanket issue. Maybe you are not aware of this but the disease of smallpox was used as a form of chemical warfare against Native people. In 1763 Chief Pontiac of the Odawa Nation began a rebellion at Fort Detroit. I am sure you're familliar with that story but what may have slipped past you is that when the rebellion spread all the way to Fort Pitt which is now present day Pittsburgh. Lord Jeffrey Amherst, a commander of British forces in North America during the French and Indian war (1756-1763) in a letter to Colonel Henry Bouquet, who was leading reinforcements to Fort Pitt. stated:

P.S. I will try to inocculate the Indians by means of Blankets that may fall in their hands, taking care however not to get the disease myself. As it is pity to oppose good men against them, I wish we could make use of the Spaniard's Method, and hunt them with English Dogs. Supported by Rangers, and some Light Horse, who would I think effectively extirpate or remove that Vermine.

On July 16 Amherst replied, also in a postscript:
P.S. You will Do well to try to Innoculate the Indians by means of Blanketts, as well as to try Every other method that can serve to Extirpate this Execrable Race. I should be very glad your Scheme for Hunting them Down by Dogs could take Effect, but England is at too great a Distance to think of that at present.
On July 26 Bouquet wrote back:
I received yesterday your Excellency's letters of 16th with their Inclosures. The signal for Indian Messengers, and all your directions will be observed.

Then over in Canada it is well documented that smallpox eliminated over 90% of the Wyandot population. I am sure that many of these truths I have written here has come as a surprise to you. I have made accommodations for you to visit a reservation here in Michigan and maybe attend a class with me about the way to view we Natives as a viable and living culture here in the great state of Michigan. Will you join me and have a sit down with three of us and further discuss these things that you said about my people?

I most anxiously await your correspondence

"Herd them all together"

L. Brooks Patterson is an Oakland County executive who was quoted in a New York Times article titled "Drop Dead Detroit" "Anytime I talk about Detroit, it will not be positive. Therefore, I'm called a Detroit basher. The truth hurts, you know?  I used to say to my kids, 'First of all, there's no reason for you to go to Detroit. We've got restaurants out here.' They don't even have movie theatres in Detroit - not one."
So we can gather that Brooksie doesn't care much for the city of Detroit. He's an Oakland county guy. Let me explain that Oakland county is a more affluent suburb of Detroit. It's where all the White people went when Blacks from the south moved here to Michigan for jobs. You know, because of fear and loathing of "them".
Brooksie wasn't done bashing Detroit, he further states in the article,
"I made a prediction a long time ago, and it’s come to pass. I said,
‘What we’re going to do is turn Detroit into an Indian reservation, where we herd all the Indians into the city, build a fence around it, and then throw in the blankets and corn."
I want to point out that smallpox infected blankets and dispossession and repressive policies of Whites caused the death of up too 80% of the Indigenous population.  Don't you see the comedy in his statement? How glib and frank he can be at the same time? Do you know, during the late 1630s, smallpox killed over half of the Wyandot, who controlled most of the early North American fur trade in what became Canada. They were reduced to fewer than 10,000 people.( Robertson, Ronald G (2001). Rotting face : smallpox and the American Indian. Caldwell, Idaho: Caxton Press. pp. 107–108. ISBN 0-87004-419-2.)

I want to point out also that Brooksie is a republican. It's not just that, it is that he got caught being an HONEST republican. Remember these are the people who invented the whole "Obama is a Kenyan" and "Obama the magic Negro" on conservative radio stations. For Brooksie to make such an ugly statement about us is just following suit of the members of that party.Don't believe me?

Rick Santorum while running for nomination under the republican ticket in 2012 said, "I don't want to make Black people's lives easier by giving them other people's money"

Ron Paul argues that the landmark federal legislation that dismantled Jim Crow segregation in the 1960s was a moral evil and a violation of white people’s liberty. Ron Paul’s claim that the rights of black Americans are secondary to the “freedom” of whites to discriminate, is an almost perfect mirror for the logic of apartheid. Ron Paul’s white supremacist ethic is more than a dismissal of one of the crowning legislative achievements of the 20th century: it is the endorsement of a principle that conveniently allows white people to hate and discriminate in the public sphere at will--and without consequence--against people of color. This “freedom” is the living and bleeding heart of white racism. (Daily Kos)

The echo chamber that is Fox News, right-wing talk radio, the conservative blogosphere, and Republican elected officials daily stoke the politics of white racial resentment, bigotry and fear. Ultimately, the Republican candidates would not use racism as a weapon if it were not rewarded by their voters, and encouraged by the party’s leadership. An army travels on its stomach; it needs foot soldiers and shock troops to advance its aims.
From the ugly, race-based conspiracy fantasies of Birtherism to the astroturf politics of the Tea Party to a news network whose guests routinely disparage Barack Obama with such labels as “ghetto crackhead” to the bloviating racist utterances by opinion leaders such as Rush Limbaugh, to the common bigotry on display at right-wing Web sites that use monkey, ape, gorilla, pimp, and watermelon imagery to depict the United States’ first black president and his family, it is clear that racism “works” for the Republican Party. To ignore the attraction of rank-and-file white conservatives to such ugliness is to overlook the driving force behind the Republican nominees’ behavior. (Daily Kos)

Jason Richwine, who received his doctorate in public policy from Harvard in 2009, wrote in his dissertation “IQ and Immigration Policy” that immigrants in the U.S. have lower IQs than native white Americans, and that difference “is likely to persist over several generations.”
“The average IQ of immigrants in the United States is substantially lower than that of the white native population, and the difference is likely to persist over several generations.”
“The consequences are a lack of socioeconomic assimilation among low-IQ immigrant groups, more underclass behavior, less social trust, and an increase in the proportion of unskilled workers in the American labor market,” he writes. “Selecting high-IQ immigrants would ameliorate these problems in the U.S., while at the same time benefiting smart potential immigrants who lack educational access in their home countries.”
No one knows whether Hispanics will ever reach IQ parity with whites, but the prediction that new Hispanic immigrants will have low-IQ children and grandchildren is difficult to argue against.
Now if they can make statements like that about Latinos and Black why are we surprised that Brooksie made those comments about Indians?

See Brooksie cares only for the White base that breeds fear and loathing of Original people. He caters to a base that believes those of us who are blessed to be brown and more are somehow undermining the intentions of the founding fathers. You know, those Indian killing Slave owning White guys on the money? For him to make a ugly statement that Detroit is doomed and wanting to "herd all the Indians" into the city like the government did to my people on the trail of tears, or what they did to the Lakota at Wounded Knee, or wha they did to the Pottawatomie on The Trail Of Death and then say it was nothing more than a "bombastic statement" is an outright lie or he is completely ignorant of history. Brooksie is a smart dude, you can't get to the position he is in by being a dumb ass, I know like I know that he is a liar.

Some want him to apologize, not me. I want him and the rest of the members of that bigoted racist group of things calling themselves "Tea partiers" and "Republicans" and "Conservatives" exposed as the vile devils and cancer to society and progress for what they are. His apology if it ever comes will mean nothing, it will be false and fake and disingenuous at best. He attempted one earlier and it was mumbled and soft. He will apologize only because he got caught being honest and everyone should know by now that an honest republican is nothing more than an exposed devil.
